What we're looking for
Furry Weekend Atlanta is looking for a Communications Writer to join our Communications Team and help shape the voice of one of the largest furry conventions in the country! This role is ideal for someone with strong writing skills, a love for storytelling, and an ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Communications Director to plan, draft, and edit a variety of long-form written content.
- Write and refine newsletters that keep our attendees informed and engaged throughout the year.
- Create blog posts and articles highlighting different aspects of the organization, everything from behind-the-scenes looks at how our internal committees operate, to feature stories, updates, and guides for attendees.
- Draft internal announcements for our staff and volunteers to ensure consistent, timely communication across the organization.
- Assist with editing and reviewing official communications for tone, clarity, and accuracy before publishing.
Recommended Qualifications
- A skilled writer with a strong grasp of grammar, tone, and structure.
- Comfortable working with subject matter experts to turn detailed or complex ideas into clear, engaging writing.
- Able to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
- Flexible in writing style and voice, with the ability to adapt for different audiences (public-facing vs. internal).
- Open to feedback and revisions as part of the editorial process.
- Bonus:
- Experience with tools like Google Docs, Markdown, or content management systems.
- Background in creative writing, journalism, marketing, or public relations.
